Fidelity Requiring New Beneficiary Forms

Fidelity Requiring New Beneficiary Forms

Fidelity who manages the life insurance program for AT&T has begun to notify folks that paper beneficiary designations will no longer be valid beginning in January of 2027. If you do not complete a new form the “default” beneficiary will be utilized.

For deaths on or after January 1, 2027, a new default beneficiary hierarchy will apply when no beneficiary election is on file on NetBenefits®.

  1. Spouse/Legally Recognized Partner
  2. Estate

Previously submitted paper forms will no longer be valid. The Fidelity® Online Beneficiary System will be the single source for beneficiary information.

Review and update your beneficiaries on Fidelity NetBenefits® through Fidelity’s Online Beneficiary System (OLB) to ensure your remaining assets are paid out per your wishes, if you do not want the default hierarchy to be applied

Where permitted, you may designate beneficiaries (an individual, trust, estate or another legal entity that receives benefits when you pass away) for:

  • AT&T 401(k) Savings Plan
  • AT&T Pension Plan
  • AT&T Life Insurance
  • Final Unpaid Compensation and Benefits (state law may apply
